My lifelong relationship with the Hudson River landscape informs my work. The paintings evoke my sensation of being surrounded by the monumental rocks, powerful waters, hills, vegetation, and unique light found in the Hudson Valley. The Palisades, the Hudson River, and environs have been an unwavering muse all my life.  As a child, I would walk backward up steep hills to catch a glimpse of the river banks on the way to elementary school. As a Pre-K to 8th grade art teacher, my daily commute on the Metro North Hudson line train to and from Chinatown takes me along the Hudson River. On the train from Spuyten Duyvil to Northern Westchester, I paint the view out the window.  In my studio at night and on weekends I complete the small train paintings, and work on larger canvases. These works capture my childhood wonder and reverence for the river. The flattened forms, simplified shapes, and imaginative color, evoke a childlike magical realism.
