From a young age, Christine Knowlton was a Maker. Intuitively she turned scraps of yarn, leather, twine, metal and fabric into something unique. Christine earned a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago and established a successful career in interior textile design and product development, winning design awards while also teaching college courses and seminars nationwide.
A desire to explore computer graphics and new media brought Christine to Peekskill’s WCC Digital Labs where she received a certificate in Digital Media. She moved headfirst into media production and film editing. Following many years of production, Christine independently produced, directed and self-distributed an award-winning documentary, Sense the Wind about competitive blind sailors. Christine then immersed herself in the hands-on healing arts, becoming a board-certified Reflexologist.
In 2019 Christine joined the PAA and initiated the Five Elements Arches DRI mural proposal. With the Pandemic lockdown and after sewing 800 donated face masks, she was driven to make visceral experimental art using mirror fragments over collage and paint. Christine’s first mirror piece, The Fog of Shattered Dreams, was included in Artists Respond to the Pandemic. 2020 prompted an exploration into a series of reflective ephemeral art that brings the viewer contextually into each piece.
