Watercolor, Collage, Acrylics
Meet the Artist… Lynda Karanikolas Lynda graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1965 and completed her studies at NYU. Early in her career she was an art director and a creative director in advertising agencies both in New York and in Washington, D.C.. She is grateful that she has been able to spend the remainder of her professional career working as an artist. Originally working in acrylics, Lynda began watercolor painting 5 years ago. She painted so many landscapes and still lifes, many of which she framed. Left with an abundance of works she began to pull them out and tear into them. As they fell to the floor Lynda realized how exciting the colorful pieces were together. She now uses those pieces to do the watercolor collages you see here. And, she is back to painting acrylics as well. After a trip to the Cape in the Fall, Lynda began to paint seascapes and beaches covered in snow. Lynda is a professional color consultant and muralist but continues to paint at least two days a week in her home studio. Her cards and prints are on display in local galleries and retail establishments. As chairman of the Arts Committee at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Croton, she has chaired the committee that puts on the annual Artists of Northern Westchester as well as monthly art shows. She belongs to The Ossining Council for the Arts, the Peekskill Arts Alliance and the Croton Arts Council.
