I craft every piece of jewelry by hand, using antique and vintage buttons from all over the world. I have hand-picked them from estate sales, flea markets, antique shops. Most of the antique buttons are from mid 19th through mid 20th century. I feel that the one-of-a-kind pieces I make reflect back to a time gone-by, when quality and craft were of the utmost importance. One looks at these buttons and wonders what sort of ‘life’ it has had. What cloak or dress did it embellish? What did its owner do? I make my jewelry for women with their own sense of unique style who know what looks ‘just right’ on them and don’t want to compromise that style just to fit in with what’s trending at the moment. By creating these pieces of ‘wearable art’, I feel that I’m also saving these buttons from the trash heap where they will be gone forever. I want my client to wear them and feel the history that lives on in each piece.
