Marianne Lau
I have always been inspired by Asian calligraphy and painting where I love to see the space created by fluid brush strokes and areas in between. Nearly 40 years ago, I began 25 formative years in architecture with I.M. Pei & Partners in New York. Even since then, I have been working with other world-renowned design firms where my focus has continued to be all aspects of architectural design. For a complete list of projects, please see linkedin. As an artist, I observe and record the ever-changing light and color whether as still-life, landscape, or portrait varying between realistic and abstract. I draw to process what I am seeing, using fields of color with marks to convey texture, space, form and light. Starting at an early age with graphite and charcoal, I now incorporate color using oil paints, gouache, watercolor and wax pastels.
