PAA RESPONSE TO BLACK LIVES MATTER

In the wake of the tragic killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and so many other Black Americans, we at the Peekskill Arts Alliance stand in solidarity with the Black community and people of color in calling for justice and an end to the systemic racism that plagues our country. We acknowledge the outrage, frustration and fear that so many experience firsthand and commit to carefully examine ways that we contribute to social and racial injustice and to begin making meaningful changes.

During this time of deep mourning and reflection, made more complicated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has disproportionately affected communities of color, the Peekskill Arts Alliance affirms our commitment to equal rights, treatment, respect and opportunities for all. We are committed to creating an environment that supports and promotes diversity among artists and our community and will work diligently to expand diversity and inclusion in our organization.

Being a member has its privileges! You get to work with and get to know your fellow artists, businesses, city officials, art venues and community organizations. Involvement in collaborative projects and the PAA itself is a rewarding experience and is also a good resume builder! Join the PAA and be part of an extraordinary organization!
