Auguster Williams, Jr.

Auguster Williams Jr is a collage and mixed media artist.

I am engaged with the question of beauty in a rapidly decaying and dying Earth. I work to salvage discarded paper and other objects, using this material to create works of beauty that are also of themselves impermanent. My aim is to demonstrate that there can be beauty of form, colour and context in materials that are bound for landfill, hijacked and repurposed. There is beauty in a world of rapid change, where experience can be wounding, joyful and confusing, but always fleeting. The beauty is resilient.
