From a young age, Christine Knowlton began turning scraps of materials into unique creations. Christine earned a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and established a successful career in textile design and product development followed by a shift into digital art, experimental video, film, and TV work. As a filmmaker, she directed and produced, Sense the Wind, a feature documentary about blind sailors who race on open water.
The Covid shutdown prompted Christine to make visceral analog art using textured paint, broken mirrors, and auto glass fragments with paper collage. Her work has since been shown in many regional exhibitions including two solo shows with reflective mixed media and collage art prints. Christine’s recent legacy project with Candace Winter is an NYS Peekskill Downtown Revitalization Initiative public art project, the Five Elements Arches Murals. The five community-contributed papers collaged art boards were digitized, upscaled and the printed vinyl panels were recently installed on the South St Highway 9A at Requa St retaining wall overlooking the Peekskill train station.
