Deborah Beck is a painter and printmaker who works in oil, gouache,, watercolor, and assorted printmaking materials and techniques. Her approach combines the best features of abstraction with organic representational imagery. A lover of nature and travel, through light,
color and composition, she draws the viewer into a sense of the moment. She creates land and seascapes, botanicals, contemporary still life and animal paintings and prints, whether working in the studio or plein aire. Deborah Beck earned a BA with Honors in Fine Arts,, receiving a special departmental first prize award in painting and an MA in Art Education from New York University. She taught art and drug prevention education, K-8, in the public schools for many years and continues to conduct art residencies and workshops for adult and children through organizations such as Arts Westchester and Lifetime Arts. She has and does exhibit extensively
in solo and group shows in museums and galleries in city, state and nation, such as at the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie, N.Y., and at the Horticultural Society of New York. She lives in Peeksklll with her husband Bill Olson, her dogs Misty and Jadles, and cat SuSu. As a visual artist, actress, singer and dancer, she enjoys participating in the many creative opportunities and events here. and being a part of our wonderful artist community.
