Dorothy Robinson is a NY-based painter, living and working in Peekskill, about an hour north of NYC. Her bachelor’s degree was in geography, and she received an MFA in painting, both at UC Berkeley. She has exhibited her work in New York and elsewhere on the East and West Coasts, most recently at Lockwood Gallery in Kingston, NY, Les Yeux du Monde in Charlottesville, VA, and 547 Madison Ave., NYC. She received financial support from several sources, including the Alexander Rutsch Award for Painting (2005), Pollock Krasner Foundation (2008), the Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Foundation (2015), and Tree of Life (2022). Several artist residencies have been key to the development of Dorothy’s work, and include Caldera (2004), the Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation in NYC (2004), Constance Saltonstall Foundation (2008), Virginia Center for the Arts (2009), and Monson Arts (2023).
