I am a potter who has been working with clay for over 20 years. Pottery has taught me patience, determination, commitment, when to slow down, when to push on, and when to cut my losses; these lessons have served me well in my work with clay and in life. I work with porcelain to create functional pieces that are beautiful to look at and lovely to hold. My work is inspired by the natural world and by the work of abstract women impressionists, such as Helen Frankenthaler and Anne Ryan. I am drawn to the use of color and negative space simultaneously and how the relationship between the two can impact the overall piece. Finding a way to translate this relationship onto a piece of functional pottery is an ongoing conversation that continues to inspire me.
