Off The Beaten Track - WCC
I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, but have lived most of my adult life in New York City and later in Carmel, NY. I now live in Peekskill, NY with my husband.
While I have always painted, drawn and sculpted, I have focused on painting primarily for the last 10 years of my life after a career as a translator of Scandinavian languages and as a teacher.
My work is informed by the physical, natural world around me, but my paintings strive to connect the dots between private internal storms and dreams and external, uncommon beauty and forces. It gives me clarity and joy to translate the unseen and tumultuous into a language of form and color. When I feel I have succeeded with a painting it brings to life some of those unexplainable drives and turns them into movement and possibility – light and darkness coexisting.
