ArtsWestchester Seeks Proposals for Bike Racks and Mural
The shared use path of the new Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will soon be a unique outdoor destination for art by New York artists! ArtsWestchester, in partnership with the New York State Thruway Authority (Authority) and the Arts Council of Rockland, seeks proposals from professional New York State artists or artist collectives for two commission opportunities: a permanent mural for an underpass on the Rockland County path landing, and distinctive bike racks for four sites connected to the path.
The bike rack opportunity is fast moving, with an application deadline of August 18. Artists are encouraged to apply soon!

Bike Rack Opportunity Fast facts:
Proposal deadline: Sunday, August 18, 2019, 11:59PM
Commission amount: $8,000 per bike rack
Deadline for completed artwork: October 15, 2019
Artists who live, work, or maintain a studio in New York State are invited to submit up to three (3) designs for bike racks, one per site. Artists will be selected through a competitive panel process to identify artists for up to four bike rack commissions. Each bike rack must accommodate a minimum of five (5) bikes and be in compliance with ADA guidelines for bike racks.
Mural Opportunity Fast Facts:
Proposal deadline: Friday, September 13, 2019, 11:59PM
Commission amount: $38,500
Installation on site: April 2020
Artists who live, work, or maintain a studio in New York State are invited to submit a proposal for a permanent mural for an underpass on the Rockland County landing of the shared-use path. All walls (including ceiling) are available for the project. murals should be applied with long-life paint, or durable, weather-resistant 2D materials. Proposals may not include sculptural or protruding elements. All styles of artwork will be considered. The mural should be original in design and accessible to a diverse audience.
